Hi Onwuka,
We give glory to God for He is Great. To know which part of the chart or graph that you choose as a 1-2-3 bottom or

top requires practice and patience. We could say it hides from most traders that are not aware of its pattern on the

graphs and on the other hand, reveals itself regularly to some that are familiar with its occurence on the charts.
If you observe the Eurodollar(EURUSD) chart on the 15th of September, we could see the 1-2-3 top being numbered.
The 1 is always the swing high at the peak or apex...2 is an intermediate low and 3 is a lower high that failed to retest the

1 level(swing high).



At the break of the 2 level, it confirms the downward/ bearish movement of price and also validates the concept of the

1-2-3 top.
A 1-2-3 top is usually seen at the end of an uptrend, while a 1-2-3 bottom is usually seen at the end of a downtrend.
Hope you now understand...

Trust you to really ask those incisive questions,man...
Yes, the attached image is an example of a 1-203 top, which is a reversal signal foretelling a bearish move to the downside..
An intermediate low can be taken in many context...timeframes...support and resistance...even length of candlesticks...so in this context,2 was a minor low, while the low of the bearish hammer before the doji, at the last support ,could stand as an intermediate low.
We dont KNOW for sure when a downtrend or uptrend have come to an end...its all a game of probabilities, in which you go for a high probability setup..Heck, if everyone knows when an uptrend or downtrend has definately come to an end, picking of tops and bottoms would be very easy and less risky.
Traders tend to use a ''confluence of events'' to determine whether a trend is over or not...like the 1 on your chart...it is termed a ''shooting star'' candle, which portends a bearish move turning its strings down south.wow..
Add that with MACD DIVERGENCE, and a convincing trendline break, it should be telling us a story..

Thanks for your mail...Well, the answer are on those charts, mon ami..You might also consider going through Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets'' by J J Murphy, which deals with classique trading patterns, The Candlestick Course by Steve Nison. that would be nice for a start. Also go through this thread..whether reviews, conversations, alerts,etc..there's always something educative you can pick out, especially when reading through market conditions and reactions in live practical trading.
