Stephen,
After your UAC was turned off, the files you can't see are still in their
virtualized location. To get where you can see them in the MT4 directory,
you must either move them from their virtualized location or recompile them.
Cheers,
Wayne

That's interesting. I have a Dell XPS with Vista, and indicators & EAs work
just fine on mine (at least I think they are working "correctly", they are
working). The only thing I can't do is see some of the MT4 files in
explorer, and yes I have turned off the User Account Control, and they still
don't show up.

I was over at mike's last night talking trading when he ask me put his
system on his wife computer. We copied some indicators and move then to the
wife computer with vista on it. Down load a new MT4 platform from the broker
and put the indicators in to the expert/indicators file.
Started up the MT4 platform and the indicators were there in the Navigator
but when I tried to drag the indicator on to the chart it did not work. So I
tried compile the indicators and made no difference. Next I copied the whole
platform from his XP computer on to my USB stick and move it to the Vista
computer under the program files. Open the platform that we just moved with
all of the indicator all ready in the platform and every thing worked. The
only thing is when he wants put a new indicator or am expert on to the Vista
computer it will not work.

When you have SP2 SP3 on XP youhave to ake sure file protection is
deactived.
Because any file that is copied in the system folder will be removed or
disabled by Windows
as it thinks it is a virus or so.
There is a way that you can register he files so they will not be harmed or
disabled by Windows
But that you have to lookup in the MDSN techzone of Microsoft.
Even whe the version of a fle chances windows will replace it again with the
prevoios version.
Because all system files are stored in CAB files. Every now and then XP
verifies if all files are still
exactly the same. If on has a different version number or file size it will
replace the file with the one from the CAB
files.
This is really complex and since you are using an installer program you have
to build in that procedure in to register
thes changed version if you copy them in the folder.
Because it is possible you install the program it works one hour and XP
checked he files and it will not work anymore.
In SP! that did not excisted then it only excists since SP2 SP3.
Put this link in your browser, you see what I mean and it is complex to
solve.

ok, i think i need to go back and produce winxp version,
the issue is that my ea uses dll (c++ code) mainly for reading properties
file and creating sessions and global variables.
this dll is called expertsample.dll you will find it in the
experts\libraries folder, and it has 2 dependants, msvcr71.dll and
msvcp71.dll these two files are copied into windows\system folder (only if
you dont have them).
i dont have a quick remedy except to say try copying these two dlls
(msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll) into your experts\libraries folder and give it
a try.

Tested very well in backtest, i had to revise my hedging strategy it was
emptying demo accounts in a matter of hours.
I can tell you this, this ea has potential as long as you have a reasonable
amount and trade with the very lowest/minimum lot size.
attach it to a 5 min chart. dont use more than 4 pairs,
the best way is to identify a moving pair then run the ea against it, when
the pair slows down find another one continue to identify fast moving pairs
and rotate, keeping a maximum of 3 pairs.
minimum 1 (recommended) .

Ok,
Since all the base code is already there here is the new ea which should be
tested as well.
Its FXI-Beta
What is FXI-Beta?
FXI-Beta is a scalping tool, yes it simply scalp the market and it has the
decence of stop trading if the market is down.
In order for fxi-beta to be successful, it simply requires a market that
will move at least 35 pips in whatever direction, if it is a ranging market
moving up and down at least 35pips then this ea will harvest a lot of pips.
If you know any tools that can tell the volatility of the market i will be
interested.
How to install?
Simply download this fie and unzip it.
rename the .fxi file to .exe and install.
open chart (5 minute charts) and use the template fxi-beta.
wait for your account to grow, this is a demo ea only.
keep your takeprofit pips very low.
post your results, and any comments/suggestion s let chris or me know.
